Planning on moving to a harder linux
I find that whatever I do in the command line is someone else's work and I simply cut and paste their solutions in my terminal and let 'er rip.
I think its time I got the coding Zen under control. So soon, I will take my faithfully never re-installed laptop (in continuous dirty upgrade state from 8.04) and rip to down to install the latest version or either Arch, Slackware or Gentoo. I've pretty much settled on Arch but it all seems so arbitrary at this point seeing as I've never hacked a proper command line Linux into existence. Sounds like I'm going to spend quite a few night wide awake breaking this sucker.
Masochism maybe... but who cares. Real men know how to use a command line.
Quick Moblin Review
So no requirement to install proprietary codecs. Things like flash and mp3s work out of the box which is great for Linux newbies.
Tired:
No easy way to install new applications, another Linux distro that perhaps unconsciously pretends its not Linux. No immediate knowledge of how to install new applications, one gets the idea that Moblin is that final product.
Final verdict, good OS for a smartphone but limited even by netbook standards.

Net Neutrality debate will continue
The fight for net neutrality will continue heating up in Canada it
appears. Bell has finally submitted the long anticipated request for
usage based billing.
In return for which we are assuming they would give access to such
wonderful things as ADSL2+ making us only 10 years behind western Europe
and South Korea.
Well then hopefully the luminaries at the CRTC will opt for the status
quo.

CRTC New Media Hearings
because I'm setting it up from another computer specifically on my
Netbook.
I hear there are cease and desist letters going out regarding this, and
much to my dismay I don't have time to make a pointed response about how
idiotic this is.
My other point for Monday morning regarding the CRTC New Media hearings
is how can the Canadian Content lobby logically make this argument?
The Internet is not like Television, you can't tell a site it can't
"broadcast" in Canada.
The only way this would be possible would be through wholesale
censorship which would then be defeated very easily.
So suffice it to say, this is another cash grab by the content
providers.
Don't buy into Canada.

Review of the Acer Aspire One
First off, let me say that it is far superior to the Asus Eee PC, the
Netbook comes with a dual processor out of the box, and performs like an
average full-blown machine.
Out of the box my Netbook had a Dual 1.6 GHZ, 1.5 GB of Ram and a 160 GB
hard drive.
I installed Ubuntu 8.10, and I was in business in a matter of Minutes.
Only required mods were the fan mod.. and the Wifi mod listed here:
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AA1/Fixes
Install, mod and ready in 15 Minutes, so far my favourite laptop.
Long distance posting test
I have sent this post via email by enabling it through the Blogger function, I have also made it so that I can send my posts to my drafts folder, this will ensure careful posting vs. rapid blasts of posting nonsense.
Also worthy of mention is that this is my first post of 2009
